ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INSTITUTE
Independent AI Judgment for Investors, Boards & CEOs.
When the decision matters more than the technology.
Artificial Intelligence Institute provides independent, senior-level AI intelligence for organizations making consequential investment, acquisition, transformation, and governance decisions.
We combine deep technical AI expertise, business judgment, behavioral science, and real-world implementation experience, without selling a technology platform or steering clients toward a preferred vendor.
AI Is Easy to Buy. Good AI Judgment Is Harder to Find.
Some decisions are too consequential to get wrong the first time.
AI decisions increasingly carry enterprise-level consequences.
What looks impressive in a demonstration may not scale. What appears proprietary may depend heavily on someone else's model. What promises efficiency may unintentionally weaken human judgment. And what appears to be an AI opportunity may contain technical, operational, behavioral, or commercial risks that traditional diligence does not uncover.
AII provides an independent second set of eyes before those decisions become expensive.
Strategic Intelligence Practices
Strategic Intelligence Suites
Investment Intelligence
Know what you are buying before you write the check.
Independent AI diligence for family offices, investors, investment committees, private equity, and strategic acquirers evaluating AI companies, AI-enabled businesses, technologies, or major AI claims.
We examine the technology and the business behind it, including technical defensibility, model dependency, scalability, data advantage, implementation risk, human oversight, and overlooked opportunity.
Enterprise Intelligence
Know where AI belongs before you transform the enterprise.
Executive-level AI analysis for CEOs and leadership teams evaluating where AI can create real operating advantage, and where it should not be deployed.
AII helps distinguish valuable transformation from expensive experimentation and identifies opportunities across workflows, decision-making, operations, technology, and human performance.
Board & CEO Intelligence
Independent AI judgment when the decision reaches the boardroom.
Ongoing strategic intelligence for boards, CEOs, family offices, and senior leadership teams navigating major AI decisions.
Engagements can include executive briefings, strategic second opinions, AI governance, vendor evaluation, investment review, portfolio-company analysis, and consequential AI decision support.
We Do Not Sell the Technology. We Evaluate the Decision.
Independent
AII is not compensated to recommend a specific software platform, vendor, or technology stack.
No Conflicts
AII does not evaluate or diligence any opportunity in which the Institute or its principals hold a financial interest. That line is fixed before an engagement begins, not something a client has to ask about later.
Senior-Level
Strategic engagements are led by senior Institute leadership — not handed down to a junior consulting team.
Technical + Commercial
Technical excellence without business judgment is incomplete. Business strategy without deep technical understanding is equally dangerous. AII brings both into the same room.
Human + Machine
The most important AI decision is not simply what the machine can do. It is determining what the machine should do, and what humans must continue to own.
From Cognitive Offloading to Cognitive Amplification.
Artificial Intelligence Institute studies one of the most consequential questions of the AI era:
How do humans use increasingly powerful artificial intelligence without surrendering the reasoning, judgment, creativity, verification, and agency that make human intelligence valuable?
AII's work in behavioral engineering, cognitive architecture, verification behavior, human-AI interaction, and responsible AI use informs how we evaluate AI at the enterprise and investment level.
The same question applies from the classroom to the boardroom:
Where should AI amplify human intelligence, and where could it quietly replace it?

Senior Leadership
When the decision is mission-critical, the standard the rest of the world measures itself against is the one Dr. Knight helped build at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the same institution that lands autonomous spacecraft on Mars, where a single planning error costs the entire mission with no chance to correct course in real time.

Dr. Russell Knight
Senior Technologist & AI Scientist
Richard Awni
More than 26 years at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in senior artificial intelligence and technology roles, still on staff today, where his work supports missions including orbiting satellites and Mars and Moon exploration.
NASA/JPL granted him written permission to build the Artificial Intelligence Institute's work while remaining there, a level of institutional confidence that is not extended lightly.
His background gives clients an unusually rare vantage point: the ability to evaluate whether an AI system, technology claim, operating architecture, or strategic roadmap can actually deliver what is being promised, from someone who builds this technology at the highest levels of American science and engineering.
Technical depth. Independent judgment. Real-world consequence.
Strategy, Human-AI Behavior & Commercialization
Richard Awni has spent his career building institutions and commercial ventures from the ground up, the discipline of a builder, applied to how organizations adopt AI responsibly.
His work focuses on how organizations adopt AI, how human behavior changes around powerful automated systems, where cognitive offloading creates hidden risk, and how AI can be structured to amplify rather than replace human judgment.
Technology must work in the real world, with real people, real organizations, and real consequences.
Depending on the engagement, AII may bring in additional specialists in areas such as intellectual property, governance, cybersecurity, investment strategy, or institutional implementation. Specialist participation is determined by the needs of the assignment.
Start With the Decision.
1
Private Briefing
Tell us what decision you are evaluating, what is at stake, and what you need to understand.
2
Scope the Intelligence
AII determines the appropriate level of technical, commercial, behavioral, governance, or strategic analysis.
3
Independent Findings
Senior Institute leadership delivers clear findings, risks, opportunities, questions, and recommended next steps.
Engagements are individually scoped. AII does not publish standardized consulting packages or public fee schedules.
The More Expensive the Decision, the More Valuable Independent Judgment Becomes.
